Assessment of trends in hydrological extremes using regional magnification factors

چکیده
Abstract Detection and attribution of trends in individual at-site series hydrological extremes is routinely undertaken using simple linear regression-based models. However, the available records are often too short to allow a consistent assessment across different stations region. The theoretical developments presented this paper propose new method for estimating regional regression slope parameter region, or pooling group, catchment considered hydrologically similar, where annual maximum events at sites cross-correlated. Assuming follow two-parameter log-normal distribution, Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate ability framework accurately identify slope, provide estimates with reduced sampling variability as compared equivalent estimates, thereby enhancing statistical power trend test. This regionally-based would clear characterization changes several Finally, applied national dataset peak flow from 662 gauging located United Kingdom. results show that significantly positive (p

Trends in Moderate Rainfall Extremes: A Regional Monotone Regression Approach
Rainfall extremes are thought to have increased over recent years. Typically linear trends have been considered to describe the temporal evolution of high quantiles of the daily rainfall distribution. For long records it is important to allow more flexibility. Quantile regression methods are available to estimate monotone trends for single stations. Having multiple stations in a region, the sig...

Projections of future changes in weather extremes on the regional and local scale depend on a realistic representation of trends in extremes in regional climate models (RCMs). We have tested this assumption for moderate high temperature extremes (the annual maximum of the daily maximum 2 m temperature, Tann.max). Linear trends in Tann.max from historical runs of 14 RCMs driven by atmospheric re...
